AbSec - NSW Child, Family and Community Peak Aboriginal Corporation
Supporting Indigenous advocacy groups share their vision for the future
Maitree worked with Absec, the NSW Child, Family and Community Peak Aboriginal Corporation to produce a short animation introducing the new Aboriginal Case Management Policy (ACMP) to the broader community.
To produce the work we collaborated with a great team of Aboriginal artists - animator Keisha Leon from Leon Design to bring the ABSEC story to life and Robert Afu & Donna Ingram for the voice overs.
Outcomes
- An accessible and informative overview of the new Aboriginal Case Management Policy (ACMP) designed for caseworkers and practitioners working with Aboriginal children, young people and families.
- The codesign and creation process with Aboriginal artists allows the animation to centre and respect the values, culture and perspectives of Aboriginal people.

The ACMP was developed through a thorough engagement process and is aimed at achieving safety and wellbeing for vulnerable Aboriginal children and young people by keeping them with or returning them to family and connected to their community and culture. It is holistic, culturally responsive and embeds the values and perspectives of Aboriginal people.
